Amazon introduces new rules for images on product pages and backend keywords

March 29, 2024

Starting from January 31, Amazon has introduced new rules for images on the product pages of its items. From now on, all items falling under the category of durable consumer products can be accompanied by images provided by various sellers. This change aims to help customers make more informed purchasing decisions.

The minimum three required images should show the product on a white background, the product in its context of use, and an image that includes information about dimensions and fit/compatibility. In the future, product pages that do not display all the required images will be supplemented with images provided by sales partners or by Amazon, where available. To remove an incorrect image, sellers can contact the Sales Partner Support. For further information on image requirements, you can consult the dedicated pages on the Amazon website.

Additionally, in the USA marketplace, Amazon is expanding the field for generic keywords in the backend from 250 to 500 bytes, allowing the insertion of up to 2,500 bytes divided into a maximum of 5 backend fields. This update provides greater freedom in selecting keywords to enhance visibility on search engines, given that the majority of searches occur via smartphones.
