Amazon introduces important changes in EU Seller fees in 2024

January 15, 2024

Starting from the beginning of 2024, Amazon will introduce a series of changes to Seller account fees to maintain excellent customer service while simultaneously reducing overall costs. Most of these fee adjustments will take effect on February 5, 2024 (unless otherwise specified) and will involve Sellers who sell their products in the European Union.

List of changes:

Changes to Amazon Logistics management fees

  • National management fees: national Amazon Logistics management fees remain unchanged in Amazon stores in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. However, national management fees for Amazon Logistics in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, and Belgium will increase.
  • Cross-border management fees: cross-border management fees for shipments from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain to the United Kingdom will be reduced, while fees for the European Logistics Network and cross-border management from the UK to the EU will remain unchanged.

For more information on specific changes, refer to the official tables at this link.

Promotions and reductions related to sales commissions

  • Reduction of Cross-border Management fees: cross-border management fees for shipments from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain to the UK will be reduced, while fees for the European Logistics Network and cross-border management from the UK to the EU will remain unchanged.
  • Promotional commission for reporting in Poland: the promotional reporting commission in the Poland store will continue to be offered, extended until March 1, 2025.
  • Introduction of Amazon Logistics fees for low-priced items in Belgium: on September 1, 2024, Amazon Logistics fees will be introduced for low-priced items with a price equal to or less than €12, VAT included, in Belgium.

Changes to monthly storage fees and overage for inventory

  • Changes to Amazon Logistics storage monthly fees: Amazon charges monthly storage fees for the space occupied by your inventory in the logistics centers. Starting from March 1, 2024, monthly storage fees from January to September will decrease for all standard-sized items (excluding hazardous goods). Monthly storage fees from October to December and monthly storage fees from January to September for oversized items will increase. These changes will be first applied in April 2024 for storage fees related to March 2024.
  • Surcharge for Amazon Logistics storage usage: starting from June 1, 2024, specific tariff ranges will be introduced for the surcharge for storage usage, and the surcharge will be applied to Professional Sellers with a storage usage rate exceeding 22 weeks. This change will be implemented from July 2024 for storage occurring in June 2024.
  • Surcharge for long-term storage inventory in Amazon Logistics: starting from February 15, 2024, the surcharge for long-term storage inventory will increase for inventory stored between 271 and 365 days. The surcharge will be applied to inventory stored between 271 and 330 days for items in the Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Luggage, Jewelry, and Watches categories.

Low Inventory Cost Coverage fee (Pan-European Program)

Standard-sized products managed through the Pan-European Amazon Logistics Program will incur a low inventory cost coverage fee when inventory units fall below 28 days in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, starting April 1, 2024. When sellers have low inventory compared to units shipped, Amazon is unable to distribute products optimally within its network, thereby reducing delivery speed and increasing shipping costs.

For more information on specific changes, refer to the official tables at this link.

Changes to the Oversize Product Surcharge for the Pan-European Amazon Logistics Program

Updates to the oversize product surcharge eligibility in the Pan-European Amazon Logistics Program will be implemented - starting July 1, 2024 - and the surcharge will no longer be applied to sales in France, Italy, and Spain if there is incoming inventory in that store. When sellers do not ship products enrolled in the Pan-European Program to the country of sale, Amazon takes necessary measures to transfer inventory between European logistics centers in countries enabled for inventory placement or to manage it remotely from other countries in case local inventory is depleted. This incurs higher operational costs and reduces delivery speed.

Changes to Return Processing Fees

A return processing fee will be introduced on October 1, 2024, for products with a high return percentage in all categories (excluding clothing and shoes) to address return operational costs and reduce waste. The fee will only be applied to products whose return percentage exceeds a specific threshold for each category (the first charge will occur between January 7 and 15, 2025). If you are enrolled in the Amazon Logistics New Selection Program, the return processing fee will not be charged for up to 20 units for each eligible standard-sized parent ASIN.

Changes to fees for seller returns, destination to other uses, and liquidation of Amazon Logistics

New fees for seller returns, inventory reuse, and liquidation will be implemented from February 5, 2024.

Changes to Amazon Logistics preparation and manual processing service fees

  • Amazon Logistics Preparation Service fees: The Amazon Logistics Preparation Service assists in properly packing and preparing shipments for Amazon's logistics centers. Starting from February 5, 2024, fees for labeling and packaging in opaque bags will increase for all envelopes, parcels, and standard-sized units. Fees for packaging services in bags, with bubble wrap, and with adhesive tape will remain unchanged.
  • Amazon Logistics Manual Processing fees: If you do not provide information about the contents of packages, Amazon will process them manually at the logistics center, and a fee will be applied. Starting from February 5, 2024, the fee for unplanned preparation services will increase for all items received at logistics centers in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

This discount will be extended to eligible parent products not enrolled in the Brand Registry.
  • Eligibility of units and timelines for oversized products: from March 1, 2024, for all eligible oversized products, Amazon provides benefits for storage, liquidation, removal, and discounts for up to 50 units per parent product. From January 8, 2024, for oversized ASINs, Amazon will not charge the removal and liquidation fee for the first 30 units of each new oversized parent ASIN received at a logistics center within 180 days from the date of the first inventory receipt.
